Tanjia Coleman

Tanjia M. Coleman is a seasoned Human Resources expert with 12+ years dedicated to enhancing the #1 asset in corporations nationwide; Human capital. With a unique style, quick wit, respectful demeanor, engaging intellect and honest delivery of word and deed, Tanjia is best known for her ability to quickly identify gaping and subtle disconnects. Her tenacity for driving results has led her to produce strategic plans consistently and successfully to internal clients and employees alike.

While working as the Organizational Capability and Diversity Program Manager at Microsoft, Tanjia led 40+ individuals and 5 Team Leaders as they charted new territory in expanding the organizations diversity initiatives. Her innovative vision was “key” in creating and developing an online computer tool that offered increased flexibility to telecommuters to enhance their commitment to completing projects remotely. Tanjia is credited with turning the project into a $500K investment impacting 76,000 employees.

As with Microsoft, it is no surprise that Tanjia has successfully made her mark with a number of other internationally recognized organizations such as Starbucks and Sears and Roebuck Company holding various Human Resources positions. Tanjia’s strategic agility, executive leadership, innovation management, and effervescent personality boasts success with all challenges that she has stepped up to embrace.

From an early age, Tanjia displayed natural talents in leadership by steering others to walk in her path. She demonstrated her skills of influence while holding the title of Regional Speech Champion while attending Downers Grove North High School, in categories of original oration, oratorical declamation, prose, and verse reading. Tanjia’s command for capturing her audience is relevant still today in her business practices.

Having honed these early skills, Tanjia has been holding the attention of her audience in a variety of public forums. She has been called upon for her public speaking talents at various venues over the years. A few noteworthy engagements include:

In addition to Tanjia’s corporate credits, it is noted that she has a great respect for the entrepreneurial business world. Coleman and Associates Staffing was created and operated under the direct leadership of Tanjia from 1999-2001. During that time, Tanjia contracted her staffing services to Motorola Corporate Headquarters, The Chicago Tribune, and Whirlpool World Headquarters. It was during these early years of managing her own consulting services that Tanjia defined her philosophy, approach to business, and respect for human capital.

Tanjia holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial/Employee Relations and Organizational Development from Loyola University. Additionally, Tanjia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Business Administration from DePaul University. Tanjia’s academic excellence earned her the honor of being recognized in the Graduate School of Business Student Guestbook where her achievements, contributions, and leadership are showcased.

Tanjia resides in Chicago, Illinois where she prides herself in being a lifetime learner. She appreciates challenges seeking them out both personally and professionally.
